Electric Power Steering Rack Motor Control Unit Mosfet IGBT for BMW 5 F18 F02






  1. Remove the damaged IGBT, either replacing the entire set of three or just the damaged unit. During repairs, protect undamaged IGBTs by covering them with masking tape to avoid contamination from debris.
  2. Use a knife to disconnect the original thin wires.
  3. Remove the original damping adhesive with a glue remover.
  4. Sharpen the tip of a screwdriver and pry out the damaged IGBT.
  5. Use a blade to remove any remaining silicone residue, ensuring the baseplate is flat.
  6. Use a grinder to remove the silver contact points, revealing the copper baseplate.
  7. Clean out any dust and debris with compressed air.
  8. Select the correct model of IGBT and position it accordingly, ensuring proper placement. VEYECO has upgraded the new version of IGBT with pre-welded connection points.
  9. Apply thermal grease with a thermal conductivity of 4.0 or higher, along with thermal silicone gel with a conductivity of 2.0 or higher. Higher conductivity is preferred. The thermal grease conducts heat internally, while the silicone gel conducts heat externally and secures the unit. Ensure both are evenly applied.
  10. Apply silicone gel to the back of the chip and place it in the correct position. (Note that the three IGBTs are not the same and should not be misplaced; the board is labeled A1, A2, A3 for easy identification.) Press down gently with the thumb for 20 seconds to 1 minute to remove air bubbles from the silicone until the chip cannot move.
  11. Before the silicone solidifies completely, pre-install the top circuit board to position the IGBT. Failure to do so may prevent the circuit board from being installed after the silicone cures. This step is crucial, and alignment of the four screw holes must be ensured before tightening the screws, allowing the silicone to solidify.
  12. Allow 2-5 hours for the thermal silicone to solidify.
  13. Weld the copper strips and wires.
